Getting started with JSP can be a daunting taskââ,¬"where do you start? You could start by downloading our free Quick Start guide to JSP. It's a free download, honest.
The PDF contains detailed instructions on building your very first "Hello, World" application as well as instructions for some common tasks to help you get started learning about Java Server Pages.
The catch
Okay, maybe we lied. The download isn't totally freeââ,¬"we do want your feedback. This is the first time we've tried this kind of document, and we'd like to know what we did right and what we did wrong. So download the file, give it a try, and Tell us what you think.. We want to make this useful, so we welcome all constructive criticism.

Hi
Iam a new JSP developer. Iam actually struck with installing Tomcat. Though the startup.bat doesn't give any error, iam not able to launch http://localhost:8080. I was thinking that this sight is going to help me in that.
But unforutnately....didn;t :-(
Regards
Uma

Quoting: i have installed tomcat in windows vista..i am not unabl e to launch http://localhost:8080..plz help me how to install tomcat 5.0 in windows vista.
I myself tried to get tomcat working in windows vista for two days, I managed to come across a solution. I installed Tomcat 6 in my windows vista, which didn't work out of the box, but in the [JRE]/bin directory, there's a file named msvcr71.dll, this file needs to be copied to [Tomcat]/bin. After that all problem should be solved.
Enjoy
