As Perth plays host to Linux.conf.au--one of the world's largest gatherings of technology developers--Builder Australia takes you behind the scenes, in an exclusive special report.

This week, local open-source developers have a chance to get together to code, exchange ideas and meet first-hand fellow open-source developers and enthusiasts.

Staged at the University of Western Australia from January 22 to January 25, Linux.conf.au 2003 features "6 tutorials, 3 keynotes and 36 presentations" as well as "A number of Work In Progress/Poster presentations, and as many Birds of a Feather sessions as delegates want to organise themselves", according to the conference Web site.

Featuring a speaker roster that includes both Australian and international open-source developers, the conference will provide an opportunity for local developers to gain hands-on experience with open-source technologies.
