It is with a mix of sadness and excitement that I must write this last ever article to appear on Builder AU.

Just shy of a decade online and it is time for Bulider AU to make some big changes.

For a site to survive on the internet for a decade is quite an accomplishment, and I think everyone involved with the site over the years can hold their heads high over what we have achieved since 2002. I'd particularly like to thank Brendon Chase, Ella Morton, David McAmis, Matt Overington, Paul Ayre, Nick Gibson and Lana Kovacevic for all their contributions over the years.

Enough with the past ... what's the future hold?

The good news is that while the Builder AU name is retired, TechRepublic.com will be taking its place (this makes an awful lot of sense, given that much of the content on the site originated from TechRepublic in the first place). It's a natural coming together of audiences that gives us a huge library of information and a vibrant, large and (most importantly) knowledgeable community that we could only previously dream about.

The place for Australian content will be on our TechRepublic.com blog, "Girt By Code", found at http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/australia.

All previous Builder AU content has been ported across to TechRepublic.com and Builder AU URLs will be redirecting to TR (or to the original source from across the CBS network of sites). We will, of course, be adding a lot more content to that — covering local events, products and technological developments.

This is a great opportunity for Australian developers to tap into a global community and we hope you'll join us on this voyage.

In case you are feeling nostalgic, there's a great article here that describes the first five years of Builder AU.

So thanks for the memories, Builder AU, and welcome to TechRepublic!
